Flash memory has become inexpensive. People are using it more and more. It is faster and uses less energy. SSD or solid state drive are common. That is a direction that is new. Perhaps the hard drive will be replaced one day soon. That said, the hard drive is still driving sales of laptops due to its large capacity for storage of movies. Hopefully, flash will keep declining in price. I love flash memory.
