imaginary penny

Hundreds of years, the penny was made of copper. However, starting in 1982 the penny is now zinc. It has a thin plate of copper cover. The composition is 98% zinc and only 2% copper. This is not something people would imagine. However, back in 1964 silver was replaced in coins. With inflation we will see further debasement of our coinage. Sadly, the modern penny is imaginary. We shall see more paper currency.
